What’s in a Word?
March 27, 2017
Employers like to use such words as; team, family, companionate, ownership, comradery, leadership and independence, just to name a few. It’s not very often you can find a company – regardless of your industry – that actually embodies all of these words. You see these words in just about every single “Off the Ledger” blog post from team members, stretching from interns all the way to Partner. The reason for this is simple.
When you work for a firm such as PKM, it is like being adopted by an entire community. Everyone is empowered to be a leader regardless of their role, and everyone works just as hard as the person sitting across from them. As a team we strive to not only to succeed in our professional lives, but encourage each individual to set his or her own personal benchmarks while we as a firm everything we can to ensure the success of individual and team goals. It’s a formula that PKM has been operating under since before I started here, and has continued to be present in everything that we have done since. In a sense, one could say that we work as a family.
Using the word family may sound cliché, but when you spend countless hours with the same people, travel together, work in the same offices and stay in the same hotels, it is hard not to get a sense of family. When you work and play together you care about one another. You know when someone is having a bad day and you know when they are excited. Having coworkers you consider friends and family is what makes coming to work every day at PKM amazing.
