Time Flies at PKM
July 18, 2014
It’s hard for me to believe that I’ve been at PKM for just shy of five years. I feel like it was yesterday when I was going through the recruiting process, finishing grad school and studying for the CPA exam. With no doubt in my mind, I couldn’t be happier with the decision I made in coming to PKM to start my career. At PKM, I’ve been an intern, staff, senior and now a manager. And everywhere along the way I have learned so much. The learning extends beyond the technical side and also involves leadership, business development, marketing and so much more. The path begins with learning the basics and observing your peers and superiors. You observe the client interaction from a technical and social aspect; you observe the presentations; you observe the technical research and presentation of facts to clients; and, you observe the dedication to the growth and betterment of the firm. Before you know it, you are involved in all of the above observations. The learning curve is vast and encompasses a number of skill sets, but it is rewarding. You aren’t sitting behind the scenes but rather playing an integral part in the scene. I look back on the past five years and cannot believe how much I’ve done with the firm and how much I have gained from the firm. I work with wonderful people every day, including clients, and I know, as much as I am committed to PKM, they are also committed to me. They have allowed me to work remotely from Costa Rica for six months in order to accommodate my husband’s schedule. It’s currently the half way point of this experience and everyone has been incredibly encouraging and supportive. Through communication, commitment and dedication from all parties, the firm was able to accommodate this flexible working arrangement. It’s been an incredible experience and just further confirms my decision to join PKM. I guess the old saying is true, time flies when you are having fun.
