Looking back, I would not change a thing…
December 21, 2015
I have a habit of relating all life situations to a good song, and work is no different. The lyrics playing in my head come from the great Ray Lamontange, “You are the best thing that ever happened to me.” While Ray is relating to the love of a woman, this is how I feel about my decision to join PKM. I was a very excited and lost 21 year old when I started interviewing for internship positions. All I knew is there were people who wanted to pay me to work for them, while in school, and I would get credit towards my degree. What I have learned in the past seven years is that I made one of the best decisions in my life by choosing PKM. I like to say I chose them, but really I’m more grateful they chose me.
I had a great group of accounting friends I graduated with, and I can count on one hand the number of people who are still with the public accounting firm they started with. I use this as a selling tool during recruiting as a real life example of why people want to come to work here and stay here. I have done a good bit of recruiting in my day and I feel like I have my top three “buzz” sayings to potential new hires:
The culture at PKM is like no other and strives every day to maintain what makes them the “Best Places to Work.” A large part of the culture has to do with the people. Public accounting is one of the most demanding jobs, but getting to work with great and talented people every day makes this so much easier. Intangibles encompass many different things and many different things for different people. For me, it is the flexibility that comes with this job that you cannot get anywhere else. Choosing PKM was one of the best decisions I have ever made and I cannot wait to share all the great things about the firm with the next class of recruits.
