Commuter troubles solved

I recently heard that Atlanta ranks in the “Top Ten Cities” list for the nation. Unfortunately, the ranking was for having the worst traffic conditions in the nation. According to a study from the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, Atlanta residents spend an average of 51 extra hours stuck in traffic per year. Knowing this, it’s important to consider the location of the CPA firm you choose as your future employer and whether or not they offer other commuting-related perks.

Fortunately, PKM is located in the middle of downtown Atlanta. Not only does this mean that our office is easily accessible by car from all areas of the city, but we also have great access to MARTA and local commuter buses such as Xpress. Even better, the firm will subsidize either part of your monthly parking or public transportation bill. We have an increasingly growing number of our staff who take public transportation and it’s amazing what you can do when you don’t have to be the one sitting behind the wheel in traffic. For me, spending 30 minutes on the bus or MARTA gives me plenty of time to read a magazine, book, answer some multiple choice questions when preparing for the CPA exam or even getting in a much needed nap during busy season. This is on top of the $10,000 a year a person taking public transportation can save when you consider gas and car maintenance.

For me, I couldn’t have picked a better firm than PKM.
